Mark Burgman, managing director of the Centre for Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis at the University of Melbourne, is the new editor-in-chief of Conservation Biology. Mark is the journal's fifth EIC in its 27-year history. A longtime handling editor for the Conservation Biology, Mark takes some time to answer questions about the journal from his new perch as EIC.

Geri Unger, an ecologist and the former director of education and research at the Cleveland Botanical, has been named SCB's new executive by the Society's Board of Governors. Geri will start her tenure as SCB's third executive director in more than 25 years on 15 July. In the following Q&A, Geri tells us why she's excited about her new position, what she sees as the biggest challenges facing the Society and why she is prepared to lead SCB.
