Southeast - South Cumberland Regional Director

Job Description:

The Land Trust for Tennessee is seeking a full-time position to be the leader of the organization’s efforts in the South Cumberland and greater Chattanooga region of Tennessee. The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct education and outreach efforts in these communities resulting in support for our conservation efforts, including the pursuit of funding opportunities. The position requires a resourceful, creative individual that can clearly articulate the need for land and water conservation in focal conservation areas identified by The Land Trust’s recent conservation planning efforts and ongoing Thrive 2055 planning effort.


•A bachelor’s degree or higher (master’s degree preferred), preferably in natural resource sciences, environmental planning, or public policy.
•A minimum of seven years professional experience in natural resource conservation, environmental planning, or public policy. Local experience is preferred.
•Proven effective leadership and management skills.
•Results oriented, self-starter with a strong team ethic.
•Exceptional communication, organization and interpersonal skills
•Must be outgoing and passionate about land and water conservation.
•Must be available to work some evenings and weekends, and travel throughout southeastern TN


•Develop and implement an effective education and outreach program that engages landowners, community groups, and potential funders about the work of The Land Trust.
•Cultivate partnerships with other land conservation organizations, funders, community groups, and other stakeholders in the region to develop projects of mutual interest.
•Be a leading voice in the Thrive 2055 planning process and implementation of strategies outlined in the final plan.
•Work closely with the Director of Conservation Programs to implement strategic conservation action plans for the Southeast-South Cumberland region.
•Secure funding opportunities to support The Land Trust’s work in the region.
•Supervise the Southeast-South Cumberland Project Manager.
