GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP for either an MS or PhD student in the College of Natural Resources at the University of Idaho. Qualifications include an undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Rangeland Ecology, etc.), and an undergraduate GPA of >3.0 and combined verbal and quantitative GRE score of >308 (>1200 in the prior 1600-point scale). Must have excellent written and interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, willingness to travel and conduct field research under rigorous and remote conditions, and at least 1 year of prior field research experience. Student will conduct field work associated with an experimental project to examine effects of spring cattle grazing on demographic traits and habitat characteristics of greater sage-grouse on multiple study sites in rangelands throughout southern Idaho. Student’s graduate research will include questions related to sage-grouse ecology and rangeland management. This is an interagency/university collaborative project that will involve working closely with personnel from Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the Bureau of Land Management, and other stakeholders. Graduate research questions will be developed during the first year via meetings between student and advisor(s).
