Under the general direction of and working in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for the development and management of the organization’s finances and programs, as well as community relations, and human resources.
Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited, to the following areas:
Design and implement annual and five-year fundraising plan.
Research and develop funding opportunities, both near-term and long-term
Develop and cultivate donors through direct communication, as well as outreach and fundraising materials.
Seek grants, develop proposals, manage implementation and reporting.
Act as chief financial officer, in coordination with treasurer and board, to implement financial planning and budget management.
Develop and maintain sound financial practices.
Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work and see that the organization operates within budget guidelines.
Human Resources and Office Administration
Manage all of the administrative functions of the organization, including but not limited to marketing, public relations, finance, and office management.
Management all personnel for optimal teamwork and morale
Recruitment of personnel and contractors
Program Development and Management
Assure that the programs (stewardship, conservation, education and advocacy) are successful in achieving the organization’s goals and mission.
Develop and implement new programs as needed
Oversee management of the Mission Blue Nursery
Develop and steward strategic partnerships with public agencies, businesses and non-profit groups.
oversee all public communication; letters, proposals emails, social media, website, newsletters
Present and explain organization’s interests to the media and other agencies organizations
Ability to quickly understand a wide range of topics and ideas
Education, Training and Experience
• Prior successful fundraising experience.
• Prior non-profit business experience or training.
• Very good writing skills
• Demonstratable computer skills.
• Leadership experience.
