Display Gardens Intern

Job Type: full-time temporary position

Location: Illinois

Learn how to properly maintain a public display garden by working with a senior horticulturist and his or her team of staff and volunteers. Attend regular staff meetings and weekly intern meetings with guest speakers to learn about general Chicago Botanic Garden operations.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assist horticulturists with routine garden maintenance including weeding, watering, pruning, mulching, labeling, fertilizing, and removing debris. Prepare and present a ten minute lecture on an approved horticulture topic to the horticulture division.

Qualifications: Enrollment in a college horticulture program or realted field with an interest in garden maintenance. Candidates within a year of their graduation will also be considered. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills.
