Bird Point-count Technicians (3)

Participate in a long-term ecological study of forest bird populations at Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Current National Science Foundation-funded research focuses on effects of climatic variation on bird distribution and abundance along an elevation gradient.

Individuals applying should be able to identify eastern U.S. forest birds by sight and sight and have prior experience watching or studying birds outside of the classroom. Previous work conducting avian point-counts is preferred. We are seeking applicants with good color vision, able to hike and work alone in remote, rugged, and steep terrain, and with an interest in avian behavioral and population ecology.

Field work starts on 18 May and lasts 8-10 weeks (late Jul). Lakeside housing plus a stipend of $400 per week, internet access, and utilities will be provided. Many opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and birding can be found in the immediate area.
