Behavior, stress, and parasites in chacma baboons, South Africa

New volunteers are accepted on a rolling basis at any time of year. A commitment of 6 months or more is preferred, but we will consider shorter stays.
Primary responsibilities will be the collection of behavioral and demographic data, monitoring of group movements and human-baboon interactions, collection and processing of samples for hormonal analyses, and data entry/management.
This is an ideal position for someone who wants to gain field experience in preparation for a graduate program in behavioral ecology, animal behavior, or related fields.

- reliable and highly motivated,
- able to work independently and as part of a team.
Accommodation in shared housing close to the field site is partly paid by the project; remaining contributions are about $200 per month per person. In addition, volunteers need to cover their own food expenses.
Openings available at any time. Immediate needs for 2-4 volunteers starting in December 2013/January 2014.
