SCB Membership Business Policies
Refunds
Conservation magazine guarantees satisfaction to readers. If at any time you are displeased with your subscription you may request a cancellation and pro-rated refund. Refunds will not be issued after the last issue of the subscription has been mailed.
Conservation Biology is a professional journal. As such, pro-rated refunds may be made based on how many issues were mailed prior to refund request. Therefore, if cancellation is requested SCB will issue a pro-rated refund. Refunds will not be issued after the last issue has been mailed.
Refunds are not issued for purchase of SCB membership alone or affiliate publications. Membership is canceled when a subscription with which it is included is canceled.
Changes in Media Delivery Type
On occasion, a member will request a change from a print subscription of a publication to an online only subscription or vice versa. To change the delivery format of your subscription, please contact our customer service department. They will cancel your current subscription, process any necessary refund for the difference, and place a new order for the on-line version.
Address Changes
Members are responsible for updating their mailing address information either on-line or by contacting customer service. Please notify us immediately if you encounter delivery difficulties ( see our policy on claimed and missed issues ) . If issues are missed due to im proper mailing information , they cannot be claimed unless they are reported within the terms listed below.
Problems regarding Conservation Biology and Conservation magazine must be filed with the Membership Department no more than 90 days after the mail date for U.S. addresses and 6 months for addresses outside of the U.S. After this date , missed issues will not be sent ( see also: address changes ) . SCB will not resend a claimed issue more than once. If the claimed issue does not arrive , and mis-delivery has occurred twice (initial mailing and claimed mailing), please contact your local postal service.
Affiliate claims are handled by the specific publisher and must be reported according to their requirements. Please see http://www.conbio.org/publications/affiliates for additional information.
Shipping Charges
Shipping charges are incurred for delivery of publications outside of the United States. This is because of the high cost of foreign postage. As the United States is the origin of printing for SCB’s publications, foreign postage applies for delivery of paper copies to addresses outside of the U.S.
Postage is added at the time of purchase. Postage for affiliate publications is already calculated into the initial publication price.
To avoid shipping charges, choose an online only option and help us save resources and paper.
Website Registration
In order to use member - specific resources on the SCB website, members must register an account. This should only be done once. After registration, members will be sent an email and will be directed to a site where they can set their password. If you have questions about account registration, please email membership@conbio.org . Website registration increases security, protecting our members' personal information.

Currently the following routing occurs with your questions.
- Email correspondence – these questions are routed to our vendor in Louisville, Colorado and addressed within 1-3 business days by a well-trained staff.
- Phone correspondence – telephone calls are also routed to our vendor’s call center in Nova Scotia, Canada and handled by well trained staff; there should be little wait time to speak with some who will assist you.
This information is made public so that members know who is handling their questions and also so that reports can be made about inconsistencies or quality of service.
