Seal mating patterns shift with climate

Beyond shifting species' ranges, climate change may also cause hidden alterations at the genetic level by disrupting animal mating patterns. New research reveals that climate variation can undermine the breeding hierarchy in grey seal colonies. When rainfall is scant, dominant males mate less and subordinate males mate more.
