After eight and a half years as Executive Director of SCB, Dr. Alan Thornhill has moved on to a new challenge as an advisor in the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) starting 3 March 2010. He will be the first ever Science Advisor to the Director of the Minerals Management Services (MMS). This is an exciting opportunity for Alan and we all wish him well.
...And Welcomes Acting Executive Director Brett Burk
Brett Burk, the President of the association management company, Burk and Associates, will be Acting Executive Director for SCB during the search for a new Executive Director. Brett has led other professional societies through similar transitions and will be a huge asset to SCB over the next few months until the next Executive Director of SCB is selected.
