The Politicization of Endangered Species Science
Session Organizer: Francesca T Grifo

Description: Scientific Integrity has been identified as an important theme for the Society's policy work. The congress is exercising its oversight of the executive branch on this issue. We are at a critical juncture from one administration to the next. The Fish and Wildlife Service continues to struggle to maintain the scientific integrity of its work even while morale continues to drop amongst its biologists. This symposium would engage and inform the attendees on this issue. The last presentation will be focused on solutions and designed to be forward looking, empowering, and action-based. This symposium is complementary with a workshop being organized by John Fitzgerald, the SCB policy representative in Washington.
