Opening Reception-July 13th 19:00-21:00, Exhibit Hall B
The opening ceremony and reception is the time to reunite with old friends and relax after your journey. Drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The reception is free for registered attendees, but you must indicate that you will attend during registration in order to obtain a complimentary ticket. You can buy guests ticket later in the registration process. Welcoming remarks will be given by Dr. Roger Brown, Chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; Dr. Georgina Mace, SCB President; Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield, and Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen.

Come explore the North Shore and Bluff View areas of town! The event will encompass Coolidge Park, the Walnut Street Bridge, and the Hunter Museum of Art. Food will be served at Coolidge Park, and is provided by 212 Market restaurant, the only green certified restaurant in the state. The Dismembered Tennesseans will provide Bluegrass Music, and Big River Grille will provide beer and wine. Walk across the Walnut Street Bridge, the longest pedestrian bridge in the world (720 m) to the Hunter Museum of Art. The museum will have a cash bar, and its overlooks provide unparalleled views of the city and Tennessee River.
SCB Awards ceremony (students, DSA, and LaRoe)-July 16th 20:00-22:00, Exhibit Hall B
The SCB will present its Distinguished Service Awards, the Edward T. LaRoe lll Memorial Award and the Student Awards at a special awards event which will be followed by a reception. The event honors the recipients of the DSA and LaRoe, oral and poster student presentations, and Young Women Conservation Biologists awards . The oral presentations and DSA and LaRoe awards are sponsored by Wiley-Blackwell. The Student Poster Award is sponsored by Animal Conservation, a journal of the Zoological Society of London. The Young Women in Conservation Biology is sponsored by the Africa Section of the SCB. Closing reception-July 17th 19:00-22:00, Exhibit Hall B
The closing reception will be held in the Chattanooga Convention Center - Exhibit Hall B. Entertainment will be provided by members of the Chattanooga and Nashville Symphonies playing Big Band music. The featured speaker will be award-winning writer and environmentalist Bill McKibben. Come as you are and eat, drink and be merry!
