10th Biennial Conference for Research on the Colorado Plateau
A collaboration of the U.S. Geological Survey s Southwest Biological Science Center and the Society for Conservation Biology
5-8 October 2009, Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
Please join us in a grounded, solution-oriented conference that will address some of the most pressing conservation issues facing not only the southwestern and western United States and adjacent Mexico, but virtually all other regions in North America.
Themes will include
-- Adapting regional conservation efforts and management of natural resources to climate change
-- Restructuring of energy policies to protect
biological diversity
-- Adapting to water scarcity at the landscape scale
-- Ensuring connectivity of habitat for wildlife across barriers and borders
-- Building effective collaborative networks
-- New opportunities and challenges for education and leadership in conservation science
-- A southwestern pilot of a comprehensive effort to draft a unified blueprint for conservation of biological diversity across North America
