CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR SCB'S BOARD OF GOVERNORS

NOMINATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 1 NOVEMBER 2008

SCB seeks nominees to serve on the Board of Governors. Positions are open to nominees from any country. Nominees must be SCB members in good standing. By agreeing to stand for election, nominees indicate their willingness to serve SCB by attending, generally at their own expense, all Board of Governors meetings during their three-year (Members at Large) or four-year (President Elect; two years each as President Elect and President) term of office that begins July 2009. Board meetings occur at each annual meeting (rarely conflicting with concurrent sessions). Another Board meeting is held in February or March (location varies). In addition, Board members are expected to be actively engaged in directing SCB through committee work and by working with Sections and local chapters. The following offices are open:

President Elect
Member at Large, affiliated with a botanical garden, zoological garden, public aquarium, or natural history museum
Member at Large, affiliated with a university or college

Nominations will be accepted until 1 October 2008---NOMINATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 1 NOVEMBER 2008. Candidates for each office will be chosen from the nominees by the Governance Committee. Slates of candidates for each office will be organized into the ballot. Ballots are available for approximately 60 days in the first quarter of 2008. The ballot will be made available to SCB members in good standing via the SCB Web site and a paper ballot in the February newsletter.

If you are interested in serving on the Board, or would like to nominate another candidate, please express that interest to the Chair of the Governance Committee, John Robinson, wildcons@gmail.com. Nominations should include the nomination category and complete contact information for the nominee. Please also indicate whether the nominee has confirmed interest in serving.
