Immigration requirements . All overseas visitors require a valid passport, but citizens of many countries also need a current visa. Please check with your travel agent and your nearest Australian consular office about your requirements.Currency . All fees are quoted in Australia dollars (A$). At the time of writing the A$ is fluctuating about US$0.64 (i.e. US$1 will buy A$1.56). Currency exchange is available at the airport (in the arrival concourse near the inbound duty-free shops and also in the lobby outside the customs halls), at many bureaux de change throughout the city, and at all major banks. During the conference, currency exchange facilities and facilities for cashing travellers cheques and money orders will be available at the campus branch of the National Australia Bank. ATM machines are also available at the bank and in the nearby shopping mall.Insurance . Australian residents enjoy free public hospital treatment, overseas visitors do not. The standard of private hospital and medical treatment is very high in Australia but so are the costs, so be sure you have adequate health insurance before you travel. Your travel agent will have appropriate forms. The conference fees do not cover insurance of participants against personal injury, sickness, theft or property damage. Neither the SCB, the local organising committee, nor Macquarie University will assume responsibility for any loss, injury, or damages to persons or property, however caused. Many travel insurance packages also cover loss of baggage and other contingencies and it is wise to have a comprehensive travel insurance package.
