The meeting will commence with an evening social and registration on Monday 13 July. The formal sessions will be held over the following three days (14-16 July) and will include two plenary sessions, numerous symposia and workshops, and sessions for oral and poster presentations. Evening times are available for informal round-tables or discussions as are times on Monday 13 July and Friday 17 July. A variety of local excursions are planned for Friday.
The plenary sessions, to be held on Tuesday 14 July and Thursday 16 July, will be directly related to the conference theme, Biodiversity Conservation - Myths and Realities.
Symposia and workshops that relate directly to the theme of the conference or that cover topics directly relevant to Australasia and the Pacific region are invited. These proposals must be received by the local committee no later than 1 July 1997.
The general call for papers will be issued in July 1997 and will be published in the August issue of the SCB newsletter as well as on the web site and the electronic newsgroup consbio. Depending on the number of symposia, the number of open sessions for spoken papers may have to be limited, but all poster presentations can be accommodated.
