Over the past several months, SCB has developed a new strategic plan for 2011-2015, focused on both our conservation biology mission and the improved functioning of our organization. This process has engaged representatives of many segments of SCB, largely through our strategic planning committee, which logged many difficult-to-schedule worldwide conference calls. SCB’s heartfelt thanks goes to all committee members and to the EO staff who helped facilitate this endeavor.
The lasting value of any strategic plan is in providing strategic direction for an organization’s implementation of prioritized programs and projects. SCB’s strategic planning committee is now working with the EO to formulate our first annual work plans, in tandem with development of the 2011 budget.
Prior to final enactment of this strategic plan, we’re posting it for a two-week member comment period (comments to: mullenm@si.edu). We’re particularly interested in feedback we can consider as we take the next steps in developing implementation plans. Even more, we’re looking forward to your participation in implementation activities and your ongoing commentary over the five-year life of this plan.
Member comment period: September 2, 2010 - September 19th, 2010.
