PRESIDENT
The President is responsible for organizing and presiding over meetings. The President must be a member of the Society. Only the President may officially represent the Chapter on business of the Society.

VICE-PRESIDENT
The Vice-President shall receive reports from committees, arrange meetings and other activities, and perform the duties of the President when the latter is absent. The Vice-President must be a member of the Society.

 

 

Tricia Markle

Term: 2010 - 2011 (President Elect)

BIOGRAPHY:

Tricia is in the third year of her doctoral degree at the University of Minnesota. Her dissertation focuses on species range limits and impacts of climate change on Appalachian Salamanders. Actively involved with local Chapters of the SCB since 2000, Tricia views chapters as providing an important resource for scientific education on environmental issues at the local scale.


CONSERVATION COMMITTEE CHAIR
This Committee Chairperson will lead the Committee charged with keeping Chapter members informed about current conservation issues on a local, regional, or global scale. The Committee will report at Chapter meetings.

 

 

Liz Wallace

Appointed: 2010

BIOGRAPHY:

Liz is currently in the Conservation Biology PhD program at the University of Minnesota.  Her professional interests are centered on marine conservation issues. Her current research focuses on biodiversity, evolution, and conservation of bonefishes (genus Albula), a group of tropical marine fishes with a popular sport fishery.  As a result of her current work, she is interested in basic
science informing management and conservation policies, and the interactions of government and NGOs.


CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
The CFO shall collect dues, maintain accounts, and collect and distribute funds for Chapter activities. The CFO shall coordinate fund raising activities. The CFO must be a member of the Society.

 

 

Wiley Buck

Term: 2010 - 2011

BIOGRAPHY:

Wiley received his MS from the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology, U of MN, St. Paul. He is currently restoration ecologist and grant manager at Great River Greening, a NGO solely dedicated to restoration of our natural areas. At Great River Greening, in addition to implementing and monitoring ecological restoration, he values the integration of large corps of citizen volunteers. Through this engagement, he is convinced that restoration is becoming and will sustain as a cultural value, as well as giving others the opportunity to fully enjoy and better understand the restoration process. His prior work experience includes Resource Specialist with the MN DNR Scientific and Natural Area program.


SECRETARY
The Secretary records minutes, administers correspondence between the Chapter and the Society, and maintains historical records and a roster of members. The Secretary must be a member of the Society.

 

 

Andy Holdsworth

Term: 2010-2012

BIOGRAPHY:

Andy is a Science Policy Coordinator at the MN Department of Natural Resources (DNR).  He works to advance conservation planning, performance measurement, and integrated resource management.  He has coordinated the development of several conservation plans at DNR, including the Forests for the Future Strategic Report and DNR’s new Strategic Conservation Agenda.  He received a Ph.D. in Conservation Biology from the University of Minnesota.  His research expertise is in forest ecology, invasive species, fire ecology, sustainable forest management, and natural resource assessment. Prior to his work in Minnesota, he conducted cross-border biodiversity, water resource, and climate change vulnerability assessments in the southwestern U.S. and forest fire management research in the Brazilian Amazon.  He previously served MN SCB as the Conservation Committee Chair from 2005-2007.


AT-LARGE REPRESENTATIVE
This Representative will serve as a liaison between the board and the Chapter membership, and will represent the concerns of a diverse membership population.
