MN SCB'S FIFTH ANNUAL MEETING The Commons: The Power of Landscape Level Partnerships in Watershed Conservation MARCH 8 & 9, Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center, Lanesboro, MN Local and state policies affect conservation not only on public lands, but also where people live, work, and play. This meeting is an opportunity for leaders and concerned citizens in the Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin conservation community to explore the relationship between the public decision-making process and the principles and values of Conservation Biology. SATURDAY, MARCH 8 Keynote Speaker: The Commons Making the case for Comprehensive Water Planning: A panel discussion addressing the scientific and social need for Comprehensive Water Planning, its policy framework and political realities at the state and regional level. Featuring: The importance of landscape level planning: A panel focusing on the importance of local watershed level planning that integrates aquatic and terrestrial systems, including habitat conservation, ecosystem services, TMDLs, and agricultural chemicals. Featuring: Fireside Presentations: Concurrent 15-minute presentations on a variety of Conservation Biology topics - to submit an abstract, e-mail Ann Pierce Dinner Address - The Floods of the Driftless Area: What Can They Tell Us?
